A Piece of Work, Inc. is very proud to announce that during the month of April, art students from Round Lake-Brewster High School will be showing their work as the newest installation of the “Classroom to the Gallery" project. The reception for these emerging artists will be held at the gallery on Saturday, April 9th, from 1:00 – 2:30 pm. Students in Mr. Van Horn’s painting class: Bah, Baumgard, Bosma, Brandt, Cunningham, Eichenberger, Feehan, Klingenberg, Kruse, Ling, Lopez, Marki, Meier, Meinders, Olson, Peters, Plattner, Postma, Radke, Sayveo, Schmitz, and Spessard all submitted work – a stunning 22 paintings total! Each student’s work is a 16”x20” stretched canvas, and was painted with acrylics. The show will be focused on a self-portrait assignment where the students had to research a style or movement of art, and a famous artist who used that style (such as Warhol for pop art, Picasso for cubism, Van Gogh for expressionism, etc.), before beginning their own remarkable self-portraits in the style of the artist they researched. Through the “Classroom to the Gallery Project”, A Piece of Work, Inc. provides area high school art students the opportunity to exhibit and sell their creations in an open gallery, which currently showcases the work of professional area artisans. Special activities will also provide an environment for the young artists to network with and receive tips and suggestions from the more seasoned artists. The opening reception for these talented young artists will be held at the gallery on Saturday, April 9th from 1:00 – 2:30 pm. Light refreshments will be served. |
